CSA FAQs

What is the amount of produce in the CSA SHARE?

One CSA Share typically includes 5-6 varieties of vegetable produce and often a fruit or two. We suggest one share is appropriate for a one- to three-person household. If you need more produce you can order multiple shares!

What produce can i expect in my csa share?

A CSA Share will change somewhat depending on the season but usually includes a combination of root, cookable, leafy and seasonal produce with smatterings of herbs and fruits mixed in. The main crops provided include cut leafy greens (chard, kale, collard greens, mustard greens, specialty leafy greens mixes), lettuce crops (head lettuce and cut leaf mix, arugula), Asian greens (bok and pok choi, Chinese cabbage), root crops (carrots, beets, radish, kohlrabi), herbs (green onion, basil, parsley, dill, chives, cilantro, fennel), cabbage, a mix of mild and spicy peppers, cucumber and tomato. Other occasional seasonal crops may include daikon radish, legumes (peas and beans), pumpkins, onions, leeks, corn, and others.

Can i pay weekly?

A true CSA is an investment in your local farm relationship - we order seeds and other necessary materials prior to the start of the season based on expected order demand so to facilitate this planning we require payment in full up-front. If you are interested in joining mid-season on a prorated basis, please contact us at info@ainahookupuokilauea.org.

When and where do I pick up my csa share?

CSA pickup is held on Friday after 10 AM. The Spring season runs from Jan - May, 2024. We will typically text you when the pickup is ready if the times need to shift for any reason..

Can i change my csa share pick up day?

We understand that life gets busy. We ask that if you are unable to pickup your subscription on the given days that you have a friend or neighbor come pick up for you or feel free to stop by on Saturday instead. Any boxes not picked up by Saturday night may be donated to others in need. Please contact us if you have any extenuating circumstances.
