Board of Directors
Alvin ‘Bino’ Castelo | Chair
"Aina Ho’okupu o Kīlauea was a dream of my kupuna to create a sustainable green future for our community. I am humbled and honored to continue the legacy to bring this gift to our Kilauea community and help bring together the ‘aina, the people, and the food that feeds us.”
David Steinmann | Vice-Chair
"The potential to do good for our community which is expressed in AHK’s Mission Statement — ‘Aina Ho’okupu O Kīlauea’s (AHK’s) goal is to facilitate solutions to economic, social and agricultural/food security challenges that the greater Kīlauea community faces” - is why I am honored to be a Director. We are a community. AHK connects us all in ways that pay homage to Hawai’i’s wise and rich culture and tradition, about which I learn more every day. Providing land for sustainable farming, teaching the next generation about it, and the sense of responsibility to and for our extended Ohana, is the way people should live. AHK will be a beacon, guiding our community towards that goal. It is a privilege to be a part of that effort.”

"I am proud to be a part of an incredible and transformative effort for Kilauea and for our entire Island. AHK is working hard to improve local food security, provide opportunities for farming careers, and will soon be piloting innovative energy systems, all while we promote cultural preservation and ecological conservation and restoration . Please check out our programs and come join us at the farm or at the beach.
Aloha Aina!"

Channeling my non-profit career experience and volunteering to advance AHK’s diverse stewardship role is truly rewarding.”

“Access to locally grown food and resources improves the health and wellness of our community and of our ʻāina. During this time of uncertainty – in health, economy, and climate change – our ability to better care and provide for ourselves locally is more critical than ever. I am grateful for the island-wide community support and leadership that ʻĀina Hoʻokupu has established from within Kilauea and am honored to help sustain and expand its success.”
