About Kīlauea Community Farm
In 2015 ʻĀina Ho okupu O Kīlauea (AHK) a ,501c3, was created by community members to assist the county of Kauaʻi in developing the Kīlauea Community Ag Center (KCAC). What began over 20 years ago as a way to diversify the economy has evolved into the creation of a thriving Agricultural center with a Community Farm as a key part of that. The Community Farm is supported by a robust volunteer program and donations, as well as by the CSA program—selling CSA boxes allows us to provide fresh local produce to residents while also financially supporting our Community Farm. Your participation enables us to host volunteers and student field trips, provide local schools with healthy vegetables, and more– all while you enjoy delicious crops weekly. We could not do it without your help!
The community farm currently occupies 1.5 acres. Annually, we produce about 30,000 lbs. of vegetables that are distributed to CSA members, senior groups, and schools.
As our needs are growing, we want to remind people of the opportunity to come and volunteer. Bring your Ohana, come once, come every week, and make KCAC a part of your life.
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays; 8-12 AM.
How a CSA Works
A CSA is a community of people coming together to support a local farmer in producing food for their table. CSA brings together community members and farmers in a relationship of mutual support based on a commitment that helps ensure the survival of small farms, a local food supply, and of agricultural land. CSA assures the farmer a prepaid local market for the crop while providing community members access to the best and freshest local produce available.
Members prepay a biannual fee and receive a weekly share of the farm’s produce. This helps us plan our production and provides needed cash to get the crop planted. Members receive a weekly box of produce for the duration of the season.
We grow over 30 different kinds of vegetables, fruits and cut flowers. The boxes contain as much variety as we can manage and changes with the season. Due to the unpredictability of farming, we cannot guarantee every item will be available. We do not customize boxes for individual members.
